What Speaking Your Truth Means to Me by Marie Kirkland

Marie KirklandI first learned about the Speaking Your Truth book project from Andrea. I have participated in several of Andrea’s online programs and groups and found all of them to be both authentic and transformative. So when I learned of Speaking Your Truth, there was no question that I wanted to be a part of the book. Even before I put pen to paper, I knew that speaking my truth out loud would change me, free me and transform my life.

My story chose me and had been seeking to be birthed through me for many years and it was still unfolding as volume one went to publication. Listening to this silent nudging has allowed me to stand buck naked in my truth, push beyond resistance and release the remnants of what I left behind with love and be a part of volume two!

I smile when I think of the writing and submission process because it was then that I began to understand the true journey of the published author. This is when I was prompted to go deeper, share more of my feelings, reexamine the flow of the story and re-edit once again! As a result, I grew as a writer but most of all, I released old fears and embraced a deeper level of love for myself, my family, and the writing process.

The message of my story, ‘I’m Ready to Listen Now”, is this simple truth; to live your life aligned and create the life you want to live, it is required that you have the courage to listen to the whispers of your soul and the rhythm of your life and speak your truth!

I am filled with gratitude to be a part of this project and to journey with these amazing women!

What Speaking Your Truth Means to Me by Serenity Rey

Speaking Your TruthI always knew I had a story. And I always knew I wanted to write. But I never thought to put the two together. Not until one fateful plane ride from my home town of Colorado to my current home in California.

I had this deep seated urge to spill my guts to whomever would listen, but my pride would never let me. Everyone has bad experiences, I would tell myself, and mine are no worse than anyone else’s so what right do I have to complain? And the steadfast belief that “if they don’t ask they aren’t interested” held my lips firmly closed.

Just this past year, though, I have grown so much in my life and I have begun to feel my calling on this Earth is to inspire others. Through my creative abilities I believe I can share my story and help other people like me. I was beginning to think about the things I could do to spread my word of hope to others when I struck up a conversation with the woman sitting next to me. She told me all about this book that she was a part of called Speaking Your Truth and that I should consider submitting my story.

I got off the plane and immediately began writing. Continue reading

What Speaking Your Truth Means to Me by Hailey Wiseman

Speaking Your TruthA year ago I interviewed Lisa and Andrea on my BlogTalkRadio program Blessings for Your Soul. At the end of the interview I felt, without a doubt, these two women could have published a book sharing only their stories. They are bright, resourceful women passionate about helping others inspire others through personal story telling as well as sharing their experiences and teachings as writers, self-publishers, artists and networkers extraordinaire.

I was impressed with their ability to organize, mobilize and create. At the time they had just released Speaking Your Truth Vol. 1 and were set to release  How to Bring Your Book to Life This Year and were already asking for submissions for Speaking Your Truth Vol. II. Needless to say I was marveled.

In the weeks and months following the release of Vol. 1, I followed their progress on Facebook and their website as well as received email updates. In one of those updates a request came to submit my story or suggest to a friend to submit her story. It was then I wondered if I even had a story to share. I’ve been through many shifts in my life some of which I suppose could be considered “inspiring,” but when I checked in with myself no memory or feeling came bubbling forth. Not even a hint or whisper that resonated, “this is your truth… speak it.”

Several weeks passed when I received a phone call that my mother had been in a car accident. I flew to be with her and 10 days later she made her transition. It was then I began to hear the voice of my Soul speaking my truth only it was not speaking it was shouting. I had no choice but to sit down and write my story.

My mom passing was the end to a lifetime of learning to love without boundaries and forgive without expectations. I was free. I knew why our struggles had been what they were and I had to get it on paper. I sat down at my laptop and it was written in an instant.

But, it was not until a friend phoned me and said “Are you going to share your story with Andrea and Lisa? The deadline is next week!” Continue reading

What Speaking Your Truth Means to Me by Dawn Cochlan

Speaking Your TruthI wrote my story with the perception I wanted to make people smile about their life. What I got was that and so much more. I was able to write with the aid of a ghost writer with words that expressed what I was trying to convey to my readers.

The process of  “pulling out of me” what really needed to be said so that the reader can relate to my feeling was a very out of the box experience. I have never before experienced what it felt like to “tell” my story. I felt like a budding flower that was having trouble opening her petals.

Although  my story is a happy one, the things that happened in my life weren’t happy so to turn them into happy endings was well worth the time to put it on paper. Thank you Lisa and Andrea for allowing me the opportunity to experience living my life to the fullest and out of my comfort zone. May your glass always be half-full like mine.

Dawn is a massage therapist in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She enjoys riding her bike , scrapbooking /card making and when the snow flies she enjoys skiing and snoeshoeing. If you’d like to go for a ride, contact Dawn at dawncochlan@yahoo.com.

What Speaking Your Truth Means to Me by Melinda Anderson

Speaking Your TruthLetting the submission deadline pass for Speaking Your Truth (Volume II) had been a relief and another reason to stay hiding in the world.  I longed for the story of my life’s greatest challenge to be an inspiration for others. The excuses were that my story wasn’t good enough to be in the book nor was I a good enough writer to make it happen.

A few mornings later I was jolted awake very early with an intense knowing that my story needed to be told and my voice needed to be heard.  No more procrastinating.  The time is now.  I needed to make it happen.

Writing my story was both difficult and tremendously healing.  I opened doors to deeply buried emotions as well as learning new ways of expressing myself.  Completion of this writing project culminated in utter excitement at the prospect of touching many, many lives by being a contributor.   As an aspiring inspirational author, my sense of empowerment to write has since flourished.

I am overjoyed to be a part of this amazing community of women who have opened their hearts and courageously stepped up to make a difference for others.  We all face adversity and are being called to step into our power and find our voice and we need each other for strength, encouragement and support.  What a valuable gift Andrea and Lisa have given to the world with the Speaking Your Truth series.   I am grateful.

Melinda is committed to inspiring, teaching and assisting others in living an awakened, heart centered life.  She aspires to “be the change she wishes to see in the world.”   Melinda resides in Denver, Colorado and is the owner of Angelheart Healing.  She can be reached at melindaanderson@mac.com.  www.angelhearthealing.com
